Have you chosen the character of tanking as Jedi Guardians? What spec are you rolling out? Where are you planning to go? How important is it to pick up Guardian Slash at the end of the Def tree? It seems like one more single target attack is not that important, since you can pick up Improved Sundering Strike in the first row of Vig to basically get the other bonus of Guardian Slash.
from now on points will progress up the defense tree. I had to put the 5 into vigilance because Improved Sundering strike helps a lot, and reducing the cooldown on force sweep through Swelling Winds is necessary because Force Sweep is one of the ways i build threat on groups of mobs. The selling point for Guardian Slash for me is the sheer damage output at 5 stacks. For trash, its meh. For bosses, I cant see a threat bomb like that being bad. Once you start losing threat on operation bosses (hell, maybe even the heroic flashpoint bosses) you'll understand why a single target attack with a huge damage output is necessary.Fast delivery of SWTOR Power Leveling is always here for you.
So basically you're saying that there's no point in trying to increase your AOE threat or trying to develop an extra self-heal? In neither spec do you have Courage, and yet you want better AoE threat. Particularly in your second spec, where you take quite so many limited use talents, for 1 more focus reduction. Also, you havent specced for Cyclonic Sweeps. Doubling Soresu Form's focus generation is borderline vital. Im not so sure Courage is really that vital, even for AOE threat buildup. It just reduces the focus cost of force sweep, not increasing its damage or reducing its cooldown, which is where swelling winds is great. Focus cost of force sweep was never an issue, i never had a problem with not having the amount of focus i need whenever the CD is up. So i dont see it as that vital, especially for 2 points for only a 50% proc that has to stack to give you its benefit. But i would agree that Cyclonic Sweeps is necessary. I wouldnt say its vital, but compared to going to Effluence, it's far mor economical.
Particularly if using Dust Storm. It gets all your major defense/threat generating talents from defense and still reaches the 3% hit in vigilance which should come in handing during end game gearing. I don't seem focus starved ever. I do good damage, and my survivability so far is good. The only thing is that I might take one point from momentum and put it into Dust storm depending on if that debuff will apply to most bosses at level 50.I have considered cyclonic sweeps carefully, and to be honest I just haven't seen it's use yet as I tend to have plenty of focus. At 50, if that changes I'll adjust accordingly. I've found Unremitting to be a better defensive ability than Guardian Slash, but that doesn't mean Guardian Slash isn't a better tanking ability since it will add a decent amount of aggro every time you use it. I don't see Guardian Slash's ability to stack extra sunders as big advantage, as your sunders will be maxed fairly quickly anyways and they don't stack with any Commando that you have applying an armor debuff. Then again the CC immunity from Unremitting doesn't seem to apply to bosses. So it's pretty much extra damage vs extra damage reduction, and extra button vs no button. I think the extra damage wins out in functionality, but the one less button option wins out in praticality. I chose the no button option since I already use something along the lines of 15 different attacks for various situations, and yes, that is just attacks, that isn't counting the other half of the buttons you need to use. If it was a choice between 1-pointers I'd say it is entirely personal preference.Cheap SWTOR Credits 100k=$1.29 with discount coupon " SW5 " .
As it stands, you aren't just losing Guardian Strike, or you are only getting it on alternate Leaps, which, to me, defeats the point. If I could guarantee being able to Force Leap on cooldown, Unremmiting would be absolutely incredible. As it stands, getting the most out of it actually seems like too much effort to make it worth while. WTB being able to have a trash spec and a boss spec. Personally for tanking. Commanding Awe gives good damage reduction and Protector makes it so that every 20 seconds, you can reduce all incoming damage by 20%. This is especially good since it stack with Unremmiting, so you can Guardian Leap someone, then Force leap back in for 40% damage reduction. Also, Burning Purpose and Burning Blade do a bit to help hold threat if you have to move out of Melee range for some reason, like avoiding an AoE or fire patch. It's a bit more active than a Defense tank, doesn't build Focus as well, and is weaker if you can't safely Guardian leap due to positioning issues, but in most fights has better overall damage reduction and higher threat. If the last post the first build stop just shy of getting a very strong threat builder and in FPs and Ops holding threat can be a problem. I'd drop Second Wind for Guardian Slash. You have to get 5 points of skills that aren't very useful in order to get it and your healer should be covering the heals.
